Slovene has certain linguistic characteristics and is similar to the South Slavic languages. Slovenian has a lot of similarities with other Serbo-Croatian languages. In Cambodia 15-16 million native speakers speak Khmer. People living in Khmer are close to the Southeast Asian population. The Northern Khmer dialect makes it distinctive among other languages. Khmer belongs to the Austroasiatic Khmeric Khmer language family.
