There are different dialects of this language but most of them have been defunct since the 18th century. If we talk about the modern Scottish Gaelic it is dominated by various dialects of Outer Hebrides and Isle of Skye. There are other native speakers from Western Highland areas including Wester Ross, northwest Sutherland, Lochaber, and Argyll. The Lochaber dialect is also a popular one.
