It is written in the Cyrillic script. You can easily distinguish between consonant phonemes with palatal articulation. It has a combination of soft and hard sounds. This distinction is a prominent feature of Russian. Another aspect is the reduction of vowels that are not stressed. Some homographic words include замо́к (zamók – a 'lock') and за́мок (zámok – a 'castle'). You may not be able to indicate the pronunciation of uncommon words.

Portuguese-speaking people are known as "Lusophone" (lusófono). You will notice the presence of Portuguese culture all across the globe. There are several dialects of Vulgar Latin used in Portuguese. Approximately 215 to 220 million native speakers speak this language. It also features Celtic phonology among speakers. This is also one of the sixth most spoken languages around the world. Portuguese has a lot of influence in South America and the Southern Hemisphere. Interestingly it is also among the top 10 languages in Africa. Due to its popularity, it is also the official language of many American states.
