Greek was recorded in writing systems in the Linear B and the Cypriot syllabary. The Greek language has an important place in the Western world. Greek is also the language of science and philosophy. It is present in Latin texts and plays an important role in the traditions of the Roman world. Greek by far is a widely spoken language in the Mediterranean world. It is the official language of the Byzantine Empire. Greek is the official language of Greece and Cyprus and it is one of the major languages of the European Union. It is also spoken in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Albania, Turkey, and many other countries in the Greek diaspora.

It is not similar to Crimean Tatar or Siberian Tatar but they are closely related to each other in many ways. They all belong to various subgroups from Kipchak languages. The Tatar language is mainly spoken in Russia and around 5.3 million people speak it. This language is also spoken in China, Finland, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Lithuania. There are two different dialects of Tatar that include Central or Middle (Kazan) Western (Mişär or Mishar). All of these dialects are related to subdivisions. Gabdulkhay Akhatov is the founder of modern Tatar. The idioms of Siberian Tatar is considered another dialect of Tatar. However, it is also considered an independent language.
