It is also spoken in Norway, Sweden, Spain, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina. Due to immigration, the language became popular in urban areas. About 15–20% of the population of Greenland are Danish speakers. Danish is a descendant of Old Norse and is a common language of the Germanic people who lived in Scandinavia in the Viking Era. Danish derives from the East Norse dialect group and is a Middle Norwegian language. Spoken Danish is different from Norwegian and Swedish.

The most notable features of the language are the prefixes and suffixes. The language is easy to adapt roots and can generate words, to make it possible to communicate effectively with a little set of words. Esperanto is the most successful international and has a large population of native speakers.
